June 23 2017 – Blessed be the Lord. (Psalm 144)

This is Psalm is David’s reflection on God’s faithfulness and blessing. Here David has a sense of hope of the Lord’s victory over His enemies and the coming of the Messiah to rule the earth.

As David is pondering, he underscores both the depth and all-encompassing nature of his personal connection to God. David ponders God’s intimate love and concern not jut for him personally but for humans as such.

Why would God condescend to enter into an intimate relationship with us? Because He loves us. He is not only holy and righteous, but also merciful, gracious and loving.

With that in mind, David declares the Lord has ultimate control. he is the One who both protects and leads.

Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord.
