In This Psalm, David brings his internal struggles before the Lord. David seems to be in desperation as he says hasten to me… give ear to my voice when I call to you. David somehow understands that he will accomplish nothing apart from the help of God.
Even though David is wrestling to achieve personal righteousness, he presents his prayer as worship before and to God (as incense, the lifting up of my hands, as the evening offering).
David wants his relationship with God to be extended even if chastising is needed. David’s absolute trust in God is emphasized by his declaring my eyes are toward You, O God, the Lord. (8-10)
Let us join David in worship and in the keeping of our hearts from desiring any evil thing.
