Jonah ran away from God’s call and boarded a ship bound for Tarshish. On the trip a great tempest arose because of his disobedience. Those on the ship cast lots to determine who was connected to, the trouble they were in. The lot fell to Jonah and he told the other travelers he was running away from God.
Verse 11 then says this of his travel companions:
11 Then they said to him, “What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us?”—for the sea was growing more tempestuous.
Because of Jonah the sea was tempestuous and stormy for the other travelers. Whenever we run away from what God is calling us to do, chose to disobey Him, it doesn’t just effect us. We create a storm for ourselves and others.
Something needs to happen to us for the sea to be calm for them. We need to turn and obey God.
Don’t lets……be like Jonah…..rob others of calm seas by our disobedience.
