God says this in Amos 2 verse 9, concerning the destruction He carried out on Israel’s enemy:
9 “Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them,
Whose height was like the height of the cedars,
And he was as strong as the oaks;
Yet I destroyed his fruit above
And his roots beneath.
What an amazing description of the greatest enemies we face. There can be or are, things in our life whose height is like the height of the cedars and which are as strong as oaks. Things that overshadow, dominate and intimidate our lives holding us captive. Fears, habits, hurts, hang-ups, scars and wounds related often to our past, that become sources of sin within us, sources of distorted thinking and emotions.
Regarding these enemies, God wants to destroy their fruit above (all the subjective grief they cause us) and their roots beneath (the lies within us these things arise from, replacing them with His truth), healing us from the inside out.
God……delivers us from sin’s fruit above and root beneath.
