Psalm 100 verse 3 says:
3 Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
This verse reminds us where we came from, who’s we are, why we exists and where all that we enjoy in life comes from.
God made us, that’s where we come from, that’s why we exists, we are His and all that we enjoy and experience in life, comes from Him, its all His.
In the book of Job, we’re reminded similarly, of the sole reason of our existence, and our total dependence on God, in Job 34 verses 14-15, speaking of God it says:
14 If He should set His heart on it,
If He should gather to Himself His Spirit and His breath,
15 All flesh would perish together,
And man would return to dust.
We only exist because God chooses not to withdraw His breath from us. Were He to do so, we’d perish, return to dust.
If we grasp verse 3 of Psalm 100, the next 2 verses should be easy for us to do:
4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
5 For the Lord is good…
What we owe to God and our complete dependency on Him mean, we must thank, praise and worship Him.
It’s our only appropriate response.
