God says of Israel, in Hosea 11 verse 4:
4 I drew them with gentle cords,
With bands of love,
And I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck.
I stooped and fed them.
What a beautiful reminder of God’s gentle dealings with us and His heart to “take the yoke” from our necks.
The reality is we have all had a journey in life that was not perfect and that has left us wounded in some way. It has left us with yokes on our neck, ideas and mind sets that are oppressive and burdensome, that are not healthy or helpful.
As this verse says, as we journey on with God He draws us with gentle cords, with bands of love. He wants to take all unhealthy yokes off of us, stooping down to us, in other words fully appreciating and knowing our inner workings, wanting to bring us freedom there, feeding us His food, teaching us His healthy new ways of being in place of our old yokes, our redundant dysfunctional ways of thinking and being.
God stoops to take the yoke off our neck.
