Psalm 84 verses 5-7 say:
5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength;
Each one appears before God in Zion.
These verses give us a powerful principle for life. They talk of going through the valley of Baca, which means the valley of weeping. That speaks of difficulties and hardships we face. It says one can make those places a spring. In other words a place where one finds life and good things.
So in difficulty we can grow and find good things. Difficulties and hardships are to be seen as dark places that we mine and dig out the gold. Through them our weaknesses often surface and it is an opportunity to bring those weaknesses to God and have Him replace them with His strength.
And so through the valley of Baca, through difficulties when we so often feel our weakness, we need not be taken down by our weakness, but we can be strengthened and thus go “from strength to strength”.
If we can learn this principle, it will have us…..going from strength to strength through weakness.
