In Ezekiel 28 verse 18 God says this of the king of Tyre:
18 “You defiled your sanctuaries
By the multitude of your iniquities,
By the iniquity of your trading;
I think like the king of Tyre we can defile our sanctuary (ourselves, our heart) by our “trading”. We give away part of ourselves to something other than God for some benefit/pleasure we want.
It maybe the giving away of our heart to some addiction, pleasure, activity which keeps us from full devotion to God and in that we defile, pollute our lives. In the process we are spiritually weakened and we rob ourselves of the best.
The trouble with what we receive from our “trades” is that it never quite delivers what we think it will. What we really want lies with God, but we settle for a counterfeit source of life, joy and security.
Don’t lets go trading ourselves, it defiles our sanctuary.
