In Ezekiel 13 verse 22, God says these words through Ezekiel to the women of Israel who prophesied falsely:
22 “Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; …”
Whenever we place more demands on ourselves than God is , coming under a spirit that is less flexible and understanding than the Holy Spirit, we do what these women did. With lies we make the heart of the righteous (our own heart) sad, with a sadness not from God. This is not God’s conviction but our own and the enemy’s condemnation and lies.
We do what the Galatians did, to whom Paul wrote in Galatians 1 verses 6 & 7:
6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.
We turn away from grace into works, to a different gospel than the real one, allowing ourselves to be unnecessarily “troubled” with a perversion of the gospel.
Don’t let that happen…..don’t make the heart of the righteous sad with lies.
