March 24 2017 – Outwardly captive, inwardly free.

The book of Ezekiel gives us encouragement right from the start. The first verse says:

1. Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the River Chebar, that the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.

In this verse Ezekiel describes how he along with other Jews were in captivity in Babylon and yet even under those circumstances the heavens were opened to Ezekiel and he saw visions of God.

Whatever circumstances we find ourselves in, whether good or bad, whether we are captives or free, the heavens can be opened to us and we can see God and that will make all the difference.

We maybe be outwardly captive to certain circumstances, few finances, poor health, few opportunities, however if in those circumstances we are able to see God and focus on Him, adopt His perspective, drawing our life from Him, even though we are outwardly captive, truly, inwardly we will be free.
