Lamentation 5 verse 2 describes further consequences of the activity of Jerusalem’s enemies in the city. It says:
2 Our inheritance has been turned over to aliens,
And our houses to foreigners.
We thought yesterday about how the enemy ruins and spoils what we have…..our faith, our virtue and holiness, but this verse tells us that the enemy’s activity also leads to things we don’t have….things he robs us and dispossesses us of….things that are rightfully ours, our inheritance and our houses.
God has a good inheritance for us, peace, rest, security and safety. He wants to give us “houses”, secure safe places to live, a life experience that is emotionally, psychologically and spiritually secure, because of His protection and presence in our lives.
When through sin we let the enemy into our lives, he dispossesses us of that experience.
The enemy…..ruins what we do have and leads to things we don’t have.
