Jeremiah 51 verse 51 says:
51 We are ashamed because we have heard reproach.
Shame has covered our faces,
For strangers have come into the sanctuaries of the Lord’s house.
This verse speaks of those who were strangers to God and Israel’s inheritance in God, Israel’s enemies that came into the temple, profaning it, violating and desecrating it, treating it with irreverence and disrespect and destroying it.
We must recognize that like Israel there are influences and beliefs that are strangers to us, foreign to us and enemies. These are any thoughts and ideas that are contrary to what God says, what He wants us to believe and contrary to the mission, purpose and journey of our lives as those pursuing God and His heart for us.
If we let those strangers into “the Lord’s house”, which for us now is not a physical temple ( 1 Corinthians 3:16, we are God’s temple/house), but our very selves, our lives, our minds and hearts, then like Israel’s physical enemies, they will profane, violate and desecrate us, introducing ideas, thoughts and influences that will harm us, hurt us and God’s work in us.
We must not let any “strangers” into the Lord’s house.
