In chapter 1 verses 6-8 of Jeremiah he said:
6 Then said I:
“Ah, Lord God!
Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”
7 But the Lord said to me:
“Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’
For you shall go to all to whom I send you,
And whatever I command you, you shall speak.
8 Do not be afraid of their faces,
For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.
Jeremiah expressed the inadequacy and weakness he felt as he looked at himself and his youthfulness. He felt it disqualified him from being used by God.
When like Jeremiah we focus on ourselves, we quickly feel disqualified to be used by God, too weak, too inadequate, too flawed.
But God got Jeremiah’s focus back on Himself, who was sending him, commanding and commissioning him, and who was with him to deliver him.
As we seek to serve God and be useful to Him, we must keep our focus on God, not on ourselves or else we will quickly feel disqualified from being used by Him.
Remember, God not us, qualifies us.
