Proverbs 11:13 says:
13 A talebearer reveals secrets,
But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.
Being “of a faithful spirit” and therefore concealing a matter, speaks to me of something very virtuous, a beautiful spirit with many facets to it.
It speaks of the desire to “cover other people’s backs”, to protect them, their character. It speaks of the wonderful magnanimous quality of wanting others to appear in their best light, and making it happen. It speaks to me of humility that protects others from exposure of their short comings, only too aware of one’s own. It speaks of creating and fostering a “safe place”, a safe environment where we honour, protect and respect one another, highlighting the good, the virtue, the best side of others. It speaks of the self effacing desire to make others look good.
We all want to be on the receiving end of a “faithful spirit”, so lets make sure we extend such a spirit to those around us.
Lets make sure we display the beauty of a faithful spirit.
