January 9 2017 – Don’t be fooled by sin’s fancy wrapping.

From the very beginning of the Bible and the story of Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit, scripture pains the clear picture that sin is not what it appears to be.

This message comes through loud and clear in Proverbs chapter 7.

The chapter describes sin at work in the enticements and allurements of a harlot and gives us a sober warning of how sin operates in general.

Like the harlot, it entices, flatters and seduces (verse 21) in all it promises to deliver, but in reality it leads to slaughter (verse 22 a).

It promises freedom but leads to captivity (verse 22 b), it promises life but in fact costs us our life (verse 23), and promises heaven but in fact leads to hell (verse 27).

Lets trust God in His warnings to us about the true nature of sin and not be fooled by its fancy wrapping.
