Proverbs 4 verse 23 says :
23 Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.
Our heart is very fertile soil. The smallest seed good or bad will germinate and grow there. It is not a matter of whether things will grow, only what will grow. That’s why we’re told to keep our heart with all diligence. To filter carefully the seeds that blow across our internal world, our mind and emotions and settle on our heart.
In a moment a seed of resentment, bitterness, envy, jealousy, offense can quietly settle on the soil of our heart……and left to settle it will grow sending its pernicious roots down into our heart, strangling, throttling it.
On the other hand a seed of love, caring, giving, selflessness, faith or hope can settle on our heart and grow, bearing fruit that we and others enjoy.
Our heart is very fertile soil….guard what grows there.
