Ecclesiastes 11:4 says:
4 He who observes the wind will not sow,
And he who regards the clouds will not reap.
In this verse the idea presented is, that if we wait for perfect conditions to do a thing, if we wait till there are no obstacles, problems, or contrary/challenging circumstances….. we’ll be waiting for ever and fail to act.
It’s a reminder that we serve a God who is a realist, who knows only too well that we don’t live in a perfect world. He is pragmatic and practical and expects us to stay focused on the primary task at hand, not wanting us to get distracted by concerning ourselves and getting focused on the circumstances surrounding the task and the obstacles to achieving it.
In this verse God tells us….you do your part….you do what you can….do what I’ve given you to do…..I’ll take care of the rest. I’ll address the obstacles and challenges surrounding a particular situation.
Lets stay focused on sowing & reaping, and let God worry about the wind and clouds.
