November 18 2016 – a mediator who lays His hand on us both.

Job says in Job 9:33

33 Nor is there any mediator between us,
Who may lay his hand on us both.

Job did not understand what was going on in His life, what God was doing and felt the need for a mediator between himself and God, but declared that there was no such mediator.

The New Testament says in 1 Timothy 2:5:

For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

Though Job found no mediator between himself and God, we are blessed to have one. One as Job puts it ” Who may lay his hand on both of us”.

Jesus lays His hand on God, He represents and reflects God to us, communicating God’s heart and will to us. And he lays His hand on us, He’s in touch with us, He knows our struggles our weaknesses, sympathising with them and dealing with us in a way that takes them into account (Heb 4:14-15).

Jesus stands between us and God…..as a mediator who lays His hand on us both.
