We all want things to go well for us. We’re told the secret in 2 Chronicles 12 verse 12. It says, speaking of Rehoboam king of Judah:
12 When he humbled himself, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, so as not to destroy him completely; and things also went well in Judah.
When king Rehoboam humbled himself, things went well in Judah.
When we humble ourselves, things go well in our lives.
We don’t experience God’s grace because of our humility, but it positions us to receive it. Humility recognises and admits our need of God. It says things are not going to go well if I do it on my own. We were never meant to do life on our own, its not what we’re designed for. We’re designed to do it in partnership with God’s resources so anything that brings them into the picture has us functioning closer to original design, our blueprint, hence it goes well with us.
Humility gives God access to our lives and circumstances. 1 Peter 5:5 says:
“God gives grace to the humble”.
God’s grace is His resources, the fuel we were designed, meant to live on. Humility brings those resources into our life hence things then go well for us.
Humility….the secret to things going well.
