In 2 Chronicles 3:17 we read about two pillars Solomon set up in front of the temple. The verse says:
17 Then he set up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand and the other on the left; he called the name of the one on the right hand Jachin, and the name of the one on the left Boaz.
Jachin means “he will establish”, while Boaz means “it is strength”.
Every time worshipers came into the temple these two pillars reminded them, that as they remained faithful to God, worshiped Him, He would establish them, in other words keep them secure and He would be their strength.
It reminded the worshipers that their security and strength were in God. That He was their defense against all threats and harm and He was their offence in facing all of life’s challenges.
We need security and strength, defense and offence in life. Defense against all threats and harm and offence, strength to rise to all of life’s challenges and demands.
Let these two pillars be a reminder to us that God is our security and strength, our defense and offence.
