Speaking of the poor and needy Psalm 12:5 says:
“I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.”
The poor and needy are not the only ones who yearn for safety, though their yearning maybe be deeper than the average person’s. We all do. We all yearn for safety and security.
What’s the recipe for security in life ? How is it possible ?
I think the next verse is a good start:
6 The words of the Lord are pure words,
Like silver tried in a furnace of earth,
Purified seven times.
Ultimately our only security and safety are God’s words. What He has said. That is the only thing that can be completely relied on.
Elsewhere David said “The testimony of the Lord is sure” Psalm 19:7.
Trusting all God’s words and promises to us are where security begins.
Jesus added another step to the recipe for security. He said:
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:
He said we’ll have a secure house built on the rock, a secure life built on something unshakeable, if we hear God’s words and do them.
So there are two ingredients in the recipe for security.
1.Trusting God’s Word. Trusting all His words and promises to us.
2.Expressing that trust by acting on them, obeying them, doing them.
There’s no greater security than what comes from taking those two steps.
