In Proverbs 31 we are told about the virtuous wife who,
“….rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants” ( verse 15).
Before her maidservants serve her, she serves them. I’m sure that optimised the service and devotion the virtuous wife got from her maidservants. Nothing will motivate us to serve others and do them good as much as when they serve us and do us good.
The virtuous wife made sure she was faithful to her maidservants and served them well, knowing that would bring the best out of them and they would then be faithful to her and serve her well.
She had learnt a fundamental relational principle, that what you get out of others is what you put into them.
