In Judges 14 we read the story of Samson killing a lion with his bare hands when the Spirit of God came upon him and later finding the dead lion and discovering honey in its carcass and taking some for himself and giving some to his parents( verses 5-9).
We are told in 1 Peter 5:8 that our enemy Satan prowls around like a roaring lion. A lion in scripture is a picture of our enemy Satan and his attacks upon us. Like Samson we can only overcome those attacks, those lions when the Spirit of God is upon us, through God’s strength. We maintain His Spirit upon us by a close walk with Him.
As the carcass of the lion Samson killed became a source of honey, something sweet, so when we overcome Satan’s attacks and are victorious it is a source of “honey”, something sweet, a blessing.
Samson enjoyed the honey he found and so did his mother and father. They were all blessed, all benefited. When there is spiritual victory in our lives we are blessed and so are those around us. We benefit and so do they.
Lets walk close with the Lord so His Spirit is upon us and we can kill the lions the enemy sends our way, so ourselves and others can enjoy the blessings that brings, the honey we find in their carcasses.
