Leviticus 18 is a list of things God told his people not to do related to sexual morality and purity. At the end of the chapter He told the Israelites that those practices defiled the nations who’s land they were going to possess and because of them He was casting them out and the land ” vomits out its inhabitants” (verses 24-25) . He warned them if they did the same things the land would also vomit them out ( verse 26-28).
In the book of Revelation, Jesus said to the church of Laodicea that because they were luke warm neither hot nor cold He would vomit them out of His mouth ( Ch 3: 15-16). As someone pointed out the things we vomit out of our mouth are things that don’t want to lose their identity. They don’t want to be broken down by our gastric enzymes and assimilated into our body, at which point our body rejects them, vomiting them out.
When we become part of the body of Christ, He wants us to lose our identity. He wants our old life to be “broken down” so we are assimilated into Him our life becoming an expression of His. If we are unwilling for that to happen He rejects us, vomits us out, just as the land vomited out those who did not reflect God’s character in Leviticus 18. We cease to work with God’s blessing, God now opposing and resisting us.
Lets reflect God, so the land doesn’t vomit us out !
